How to design your own saree
A saree is woven in parts, and the studio lets you choose each one the way a weaver sets up the loom, from the colours and motifs in our catalogue.
Body
The main length of the saree. Choose its colour and its weave: plain, zari checks, window checks or zari stripes.
Butta
The small motifs scattered over the body: mango, peacock, annam, flower roundel, diamond, rudraksha, leaf or a flower spray, in three sizes.
Border
The two long edges, in a contrast colour: temple, flower creeper, peacock row, mango row, rudraksha or zari lines, narrow, medium or wide. On a folded saree it runs along the foot.
Pallu
The end that falls over the shoulder: rich zari, zari stripes, big buttas or checks, with tassels at the end.
Blouse piece
Cut from the start of the saree, often in the border or pallu colour.
Konia and zari
The konia is one large motif where the body meets the pallu. The zari, in gold, antique gold, silver or copper, runs through every border, butta and pallu.
